Here are two easy-to-make healthy appetizer recipes:

Steamed Asparagus

Steamed Asparagus

Balances: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha

Servings: four

Ingredients

one tablespoon of ghee [clarified butter]
one pound of fresh asparagus
one cup of filtered water


Preparation And Cooking

  1. Wash the asparagus and trim the stalk

  2. Soak them in a few drops of grapefruit seed extract and filtered water for fifteen minutes. Now and again, rub and clean the asparagus in the solution

  3. Heat up the cup of filtered water in a good quality skillet

    I use the best non-toxic skillet on the market from "Le Creuset"

  4. When boiling, add asparagus. turn down to medium, cover, and cook for about eight minutes. Use a fork to test for tenderness.

  5. Serve drizzled with ghee


Optional:

  • instead of asparagus, use zuccini or yellow squash strips
  • Vata's may want to add a pinch of salt at the end
  • when serving, sprinkle organic coconut flakes on top for extra fiber

Goes Great With:
sweet potato masala
simple basmati rice
