Abdominal Strengthening Poses
Benefits... - helps to correct abdominal issues such as constipation
- eliminates fat around the abdomen and hips
- stretches and strengthens low back, gluteal, and hamstrings

- Start by sitting the foundational pose of Dandasana
- legs extended, palms on floor by hips, fingers pointing toward feet
- gently scoop your sacrum down to lengthen the lower back muscles
- lengthen the spine, broaden the shoulders, and breathe deeply.
- Next, is Utthita Padangusthasana.
- There are several variations; reposition your hands behind you for stabilization.
- Exhale, raise your extended legs off the floor
- hold and breathe deeply
- in the beginning only hold for about ten seconds. As you practice, increase the amount of time.
- Next, a more challenging balance
- when the legs are extended, take our hands and grasp either under the knee's, ankles, feet, or toes.
- Again, hold only for a few seconds at first
when complete, release the arms and legs, back to staff pose, Dandasana. - Repeat several times holding and breathing for a great ab workout.
