Yoga Om Mantra
The yoga om mantra, it is stated by the Indian Upanishads scriptures, to be chanted by The Sun as it moves in the sky. Om or Aum is the sound of the universe and relates to The Sun, and is transmitted through The Sun as essential cosmic vibration. Om mantra also relates to the spiritual planet Jupiter as the cosmic guide. As we repeat om, it helps us to harmonize with everything around us, aiding us in self-transformation. It helps to ward off negative influences and gains positive energies with its intention. Chanting om is a recognition of the divine creative power. It has very beneficial effects on the mind, and orients it for
meditation
. For best results, and in most cases, om is repeated before and after all
power mantras.

There are seven layers of Consciousness that exist universally...
- Waking state -- conscious mind -- A aum
- Transition -- Unmani
- Dream State -- unconscious mind --U of aum
- Transition -- Aladani
- Deep Sleep State -- subconscious mind -- M of aum
- Samadhi
- Turiya State -- consciousness -- silence after aum
Chanting the om mantra aids you in the deeper experience of each level of absolute reality, an inner journey of yoga, meditation and healing.
Yoga Of OmHere, I offer several methods to practice and experience om mantra repetition.
- Continual Om
Repeat om in your mind or out loud. Use what is natural and comfortable. You may repeat om in one second or it may be slower and take several seconds. For example... ommmommmomm oommmmmoommmmmoommmmm oooommmmmmmoooommmmmmmoooommmmmmm
- Silent Om
Repeat om in your mind or out loud, then there is silence. The silence can last an inbreath or for several seconds. Then repeat om again with the silence at the end. For example... oommmmm silence oommmmm silence oommmmm silence
- Breathing Om
Repeat om in your mind on the in-breath and then again on the out-breath. Another version is to repeat om out loud. Chant om on the out-breath, silence on the in-breath, and so on.
