Yoga Mudras

Yoga Mudras are symbolic gestures of the hands and fingers, specific eye positions, and body postures or asana's.

Finger and hand Mudras are the most commonly used.

Each Mudra can bring about a certain experience of consciousness, just like Power Mantras and Yoga Nidra Meditation.

They will energetically stimulate and influence parts of the brain depending on the Mudra used.

Specific Mudras also have a physical effect, and are mostly used for emotional, mental, and physical healing.

For example, the mostly used Chin Mudra, thumb and index finger tips touching, brings peace to the mind.

Another example is, performing Yoga Asana's, and hand Mudras together, intensifies their effect.

Yoga Mudras balance and integrate the five sheaths of the body or Pancha Kosha.

Mudra is a Sanskrit word to mean spiritual gesture and energetic seal of authenticity.

They are used in Buddhism, Hinduism, Tantric rituals, Indian classical dance, zen priests, Japanese and Chinese martial arts.
